Created in 1889, the magnetic observatory was modernised in 1983 and joined INTERMAGNET in 1992. Managed by the Institut et Observatoire Géophysique d'Antanarivo (IOGA) in collaboration with the Ecole et Observatoire des Sciences de la Terre (EOST).
